Why Öhlins DFV?
The Road & Track program demonstrates Öhlins' ability to engineer a suspension system for the spirited driving enthusiast. Öhlins' Dual Flow Valve technology (DFV) is designed to improve chassis control while maintaining refined ride quality for both road and track use.
Ride height and damping are independently adjustable so the suspension can be tailored to the driver's preferred stance and feedback. The dampers provide 20 defined adjustment clicks and use a monotube architecture for improved response. Strengthened inverted struts and aluminum-body shocks help reduce weight and improve cooling.
The result is a versatile daily-driver and weekend-performance suspension package with a broad range of adjustment.
This Ohlins coilover suspension package is making noise when going up (or down) an incline at an angle. It is also making noise when turning at low speed (left or right). ZEV Centric currently has no resolution to fix the issue.
This is on a 2024 Tesla Model Y.
This is the suspension that should have been installed at the factory when the car was built in mid 2022. Tesla charged $65K for the car back then, and for that much money, it should have been equipped with a decent suspension.
I enjoy driving my car so much more now after upgrading to these coilovers. I drive 90% city, so these made my daily commute much more bearable. I've been driving on these for about 4 months now, so it's pretty safe to say it's been a vast improvement. Rishie customer service was top tier, helped me with recommended settings and recommended local installer. Would buy all my parts from Zev for Rishie's customer service alone.

ZEVspec Ohlins DFV Comfort Tuned Model 3P: I cannot be more impressed with the support I received from Rishie before, during and after my purchase. He set the right height for me before delivery, saving me tons of time. He advised me during the install. After the alignment and a few miles settling in, I'm very happy with how it takes a whole driving experience up a notch with firm, comfortable and well damped chassis motions. I decided to go higher than stock right height to protect the battery and allow worry free rough road or winter driving. Great results!
These coilovers are incredible and I couldn't believe it when I first experienced it. Previously I had a different set of Ohlins installed on my car and I wasn't quite happy with it. With softer springs there was just too much body roll, while only marginally improving the ride. When putting in stiffer springs, the body roll was still not what I was expecting and the ride wasn’t comfortable anymore.
I then went to ZEVcentric to put the factory suspension back in. On the way out, after making an appointment for the install, I was offered to do a test drive in a Model Y which had these new Ohlins installed. Doing the test drive immediately sold me, it was just unbelievable how good and comfortable the car felt.
Especially when comparing these now to the previous Ohlins. The biggest issue, the body roll, was completely resolved. The car feels so planted and composed while having an amazing ability in damping road imperfections and bumps. When going over bumps, it just feels as if the car would land on a cushion, it's amazing.
Thank you ZEVcentric! I am really happy with the information I was provided before I bought these coilovers, which helped me make an informed decision. If I want to get anything done with my car in the future, I will definitely come back here.
With all that said, if you can, just do a test drive and see for yourself.
Although I love the car, stock ride with harsh impacts + poor handling made the possibility of long-term ownership hard to fathom.
With the Ohlins, the car has a well-dampened, composed, and gentle ride befitting its price, and is now very enjoyable to drive. The wooden carriage feeling from the back of the car and associated shake and harsh vibration with rattles during bump impacts is gone. Handling is more predictable and composed. I am more confident to push the car faster thru the curves. The car feels quieter over all as well. I chose this coil over set as Ohlins has a reputation for solid engineering and durability. The coil overs are aluminum and will withstand the difficult weather and road treatments in MN. Additionally, the Ohlins are adjustable so I can change the damper compliance any time. I plan to lower the car a bit once the new suspension settles.
Zevcentric worked patiently with me over a few months answering my numerous questions in several emails and a phone call or two to help me to be comfortable with replacing the stock suspension with coil overs and then deciding on this Ohlin’s set. I really appreciated the extra attention as this was a hard decision. They also helped me to find a local installer, which was appreciated. Shipping was initiated quickly. And, communication and support after purchase has been excellent as well. So, thank you.
I recommend this set without hesitation and only wish I had bought it sooner.
After an abundance of research, and sometimes being practically overwhelmed by the litany of opinions, I have settled on to what I believe to be a huge improvement in the suspension on my 21 MYP.
I am running a square 275/40 zr20 setup on considerably lighter wheels FYI.
I have only had these Ohlins on for about 6 days at this point but my initial reaction when I first stepped into the car was that this is a totally different car.
That harshness of small and larger bumps has all but disappeared.
The intense head tossing feeling is very well gone over certain roads.
The side to side swaying when moving in and out of parking lots gets soaked up.
The chatter on some roads and subsequent resonance from the hatch gets dissipated quite a bit.
It doesn't lunge much at all when accelerating or decelerating, even set to its softest setting.
On the highway it gives off a bit of that floaty feel without bounciness.
It does all of this while still maintaining control and feeling precise.
It seems that the cabin is a bit quieter and road noise is lessened slightly as well.
I think these coilovers are going to ruin me. We took a trip in my wife's CX-5 after a few days and what was a pretty bad ride before feels insanely worse now.
I recommend these highly. I loved my car before, and now I'm looking forward to driving for a long time into the future.
