Camber Adjustable Front Upper Control Arms for Tesla Cybertruck (Flight Ready)
They’re finally here. Camber Adjustable Front Upper Control Arms (FUCA’s) for Tesla Cybertruck were a complex and challenging part to develop. The first step was pushing the limits of the Cybertruck, and that we did – if you’ve seen the video from the farm, you know exactly what we mean. In our rigorous testing, the upper control arm on the Cybertruck was the first major component we were able to damage. Therefore, it was among the first parts for the truck we got started on.
Concept & Design:
Robust as the OE arms may be (they aren’t robust at all – just cheap), there’s only so much you can take from a 7,000 lb vehicle landing off several jumps. Something had to give. Our Cybertruck FUCA is machined in the same billet style as our FUCAs for Model 3/Y, and the Model S, making it much more durable to stand up to abuse than the OE stamped steel arm. The added strength gives us confidence to keep hitting jumps and torture-testing the Cybertruck without any suspension issues.
As you’ll know if you’ve been around in the community for some time, our arms were the first ones to match Tesla’s range of travel on the Model 3/Y, and the first ones to use OE quality sealed ball joints and sealed spherical bearings.
They were also the first to use a drop-in shim design, allowing for camber changes in as little as one minute – without removing a wheel!! This is something we considered a necessity when designing the Cybertruck FUCAs. If you have questions about why we believe our arms are better designed and superior in function compared to any knockoffs out there, please don’t hesitate to send an email and ask.
Due to the suspension geometry, the truck doesn’t gain very much camber when the vehicle is lowered, or in roll. Statically shortening the front upper control arm helps both to increase the camber gain with suspension travel, and obviously to increase static camber. For trucks that are lifted, you’ll want these arms to help increase front grip and reduce tire wear. Not only does it look ridiculous to be driving around with positive camber, it isn’t safe or economical!
In designing this arm we had our work cut out for us, but what you see here is a suspension arm with pure motorsport DNA, that is designed to have zero compromises on the street, trails, or wherever else you take your Cybertruck!
Sealed Spherical Bearings:
While it would have been easy to put some open spherical bearings on the inboard end, we opted to keep sealed bearings and ball joints throughout to ensure that these arms would endure the test of time, and not leave your truck squeaking and creaking over every bump a few years down the road. These sealed spherical bearings and ball joints come from high-end European cars, and these joints are designed to last for tens if not hundreds of thousands of miles without degradation.
The camber adjustment mechanism uses shims – making camber settings infinitely repeatable. This is a huge advantage as it offers the end-user or the alignment shop the ability to drop in shims for a change in alignment and then set it back to stock in a matter of minutes. Unlike many arms that require removing the entire arm to make a camber adjustment – this shim-style adjuster is adopted from motorsport where fast and repeatable adjustments are necessary.
Unlike our Model 3 and Model S arms which focus entirely on weight reduction, we built a lot of strength and structure into the very complex outer balljoint carrier. This part has a ton of complex shape to it, requiring our 5-axis CNC to machine economically. But this is a necessity to be able to achieve full travel of the ball joint across the Cybertrucks’ very large suspension travel range. The balljoint we’ve chosen is one of few with enough travel to work across this wide range, and it also has a grease nipple which will allow you to service it as needed (especially useful if you’re operating in wet environments).
The arm has been sculpted for maximum clearance in vertical travel, and we were able to get the same amount of upwards travel as the OEM arm – an impressive feat considering we also had to add in a camber adjustment mechanism at the outer part of the arm.
Ride Height Adjustment:
In addition, we took the opportunity (similar to our Model S FUCA), to make a fine-tuning adjuster for the air suspension ride height sensor. This allows you to fine tune the ride height with incredible precision and ease of adjustment. You can match these up with our Triple L height adjusters for complete ride height tuning on your Cybertruck.
While there will surely be some cheaper (and sometimes more expensive!) options available in the future, we are confident none will be as easy to adjust as ours or be as quiet and smooth on the street. As always, we focus on bringing motorsport performance to your road going vehicle with no compromises. We hope that those in the community will distinguish and point out the copycats from the originators, as it’s the only way we can continue to bring real motorsport-inspired, no-compromise parts to the Tesla platform.
Specifications:
These arms include shims in 3mm steps to achieve your desired camber, no matter how low or high you set the ride height of your Cybertruck.
The suspension arms are 100% bolt-on and can be installed in around 1 hour by a competent, experienced mechanic. They are super easy to install! The entire kit is made from CNC cut 6061 “Aerospace grade” Aluminum billet.
No additional parts are required for installation
