Down the Rabbit Hole

Aaron originally reached out to ZEVcentric for a straightforward reason: the factory Uberturbine tires on his 2023 Tesla Model Y Performance were due for replacement, and he was interested in a tire brand ZEVcentric carried.

What started as a tire inquiry quickly turned into something more. After browsing the ZEVcentric website and YouTube channel, Aaron found the ASPIRA AF-10 in Brushed Titanium and was immediately drawn to the design. A visit to the shop led to a conversation with Rishie about the uneven tire wear Aaron had been seeing and the components needed to address the setup properly rather than simply fitting new tires.

That conversation soon moved to suspension. After going through the available options, Aaron asked about Öhlins. Rishie took him for a ride in his Model Y so he could experience the setup firsthand, and that drive settled the direction of the build.

The finished setup pairs ZEVspec Öhlins DFV Comfort Tuned suspension with MPP front lower control arm bearings and ZEV Compliance Bushings, ASPIRA AF-10 19×9.5 Brushed Titanium wheels, and Falken Azenis FK460 A/S tires in 255/50R19.

A year later, Aaron says the car is still just as enjoyable to drive. Even with the newer Model YL catching his attention, getting back behind the wheel of his own 2023 Model Y Performance is enough to remind him why he went down the rabbit hole in the first place.
