Jacob McDonald arrived in California with a heavily modified 2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance that he had largely built himself. After years of developing everything from turbocharged sports cars to lifted and armored off-road vehicles, the Model 3 had already become a capable dual-purpose car—but access to California’s car culture and racetracks reignited the project.

Over the following months, Jacob and ZEVcentric shaped the car into a focused track build that could still handle school runs and normal street use. The suspension evolved around MPP SuperSport coilovers, lightweight rear spring arms, a full billet rear five-link setup, adjustable front upper control arms and spherical front lower bearings.

The aggressive footprint comes from 20×12 Apex VS-5RS wheels with the public offset intentionally withheld, paired with 305/30R20 Nankang CR-S V2 tires. Making that combination work required substantial fender clearance and a track-oriented alignment.

Braking was upgraded with an MPP StopTech STR-60 front system, an MPP.R rear big-brake kit, Endless pads, stainless-steel lines, a master-cylinder brace and Motul RBF600 fluid. A 9 Lives Racing wing, safety equipment, data logging and extensive weight reduction completed the transformation.

The result is Jacob’s one-of-a-kind dad car: capable of chasing track records on Sunday, then safely and reliably taking the kids to school on Monday.
