The 2024+ Tesla Model 3 Performance combines active dampers with a chassis that responds noticeably to spring-rate and ride-height changes. That makes spring selection more important than choosing whichever setup produces the lowest stance. The right spring should match how the car is driven, the roads it encounters and the amount of clearance the owner can realistically live with.

Choose Comfort if clearance and ride quality come first

The Comfort setup is the better fit for owners who use the car every day and regularly deal with sloped driveways, parking structures, broken pavement or passengers who do not want a highly aggressive ride. It still lowers the vehicle and tightens the presentation, but it is intended to preserve more real-world usability.

Choose Performance if response and stance come first

The Performance setup is aimed at drivers willing to accept a firmer ride and reduced clearance in exchange for a more aggressive visual and dynamic result. It can be the better choice for spirited street use and cars that regularly participate in autocross or other performance events, provided the owner understands that springs alone do not turn a street car into a fully developed track suspension.

Active dampers do not eliminate the tradeoff

The selectable damper modes can change the damping response, but they cannot change the physical spring rate or restore lost ground clearance. A spring that is too aggressive for the owner’s roads will remain too aggressive regardless of the selected screen setting.

Alignment and camber

Any ride-height change should be followed by a four-wheel alignment. Lowering can increase negative rear camber and alter toe. Some vehicles can be corrected within the factory range, while others may benefit from an adjustable rear camber arm.
