How to Install EVPE Camber Shims on 2021+ Tesla Model S/X
This guide covers installation of the EVPE Camber Shim Kit for 2021+ Tesla Model S and Model X.
Before you begin
This is a DIY overview. If you are not comfortable working on vehicles, have a qualified shop perform the installation. With the correct tools and mechanical knowledge, allow approximately one to three hours at home using jack stands. An alignment shop would realistically charge one or two hours of labor.
Safety warning: Use every possible safety precaution. Never rely on the jack alone to support the vehicle. EVPE assumes no responsibility for injury or vehicle damage during installation.
Installation steps
- Set the vehicle to the minimum height needed to place a jack underneath it.
- Put the vehicle into Jack Mode.
- Using a Tesla-approved jack point, raise one rear wheel off the ground. A jack puck helps prevent vehicle damage.
- Support the vehicle with something in addition to the jack because jacks can fail.
- Remove the wheel.
- Identify the upper aft link (one finger), upper fore link (two fingers), and toe link (three fingers) shown in EVPE’s first reference photo. The shims install between the aft link and the frame.
- Loosen—but do not completely remove—the frame-side bolts for all three links. Removing the bolts allows the frame-side ears to rotate, making them difficult to realign.
- Slide one camber shim between each aft-link ear and the frame, using two shims per side of the vehicle. The flat side faces the frame. The perimeter protrusions hold the shims against the link ears and prevent rotation.
- Tighten all six previously loosened bolts to 63 ft-lbs. Compressing the suspension with a jack may help while tightening.
- Confirm that all six bolts are tightened to specification.
- Reinstall the wheel.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Repeat the procedure on the opposite side.
Additional procedure for Black shims
After Step 9, keep the suspension compressed with the jack. Remove and replace one factory bolt at a time with an included aftermarket bolt; this helps prevent the link ears from rotating.
Alternatively, during Step 7 remove only the two aft-link bolts and replace them with the aftermarket bolts while the factory bolts for the fore link and toe link remain loose. This allows movement and adjustment at the aft link.

Complete a four-wheel alignment after installation and continue checking the inner shoulders of the rear tires regularly. Final camber and tire wear also depend on ride height, toe, tire choice, bushing condition, and vehicle-to-vehicle chassis variation.
